Dr Kafeel Khan, accused for deaths of over 60 children due to oxygen supply shortage at Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital last year, said that he had lost faith Uttar Pradesh police and demanded CBI enquiry of attack on his brother’s case.

Dr Kafeel said: “It was promised that the culprits will be nabbed within 48 hours. It has been a week now but no action has been taken yet. No arrests have been made so far,”.

He alleged that superintendent of police (city) Vinay Kumar Singh and circle officer, Gorakhnath area Praveen Singh tried to delay the treatment of his brother in critical stage which could have proved fatal.

He also alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kamlesh Paswan and his associated namely Satish Nangalia, Numan and Nikhat Ara conspired to kill his brother Kashif Jameel. Dr Kafeel said that BJP MP had scuffle with his maternal uncle in 2015 and case was pending in court. “Since then he was behind my brother’s life as he was taking care of all business” he said.

He demanded that case should be handed over to either independent committee headed by High Court or CBI. He said that UP police ignored priority of saving life of patients as per Supreme Court’s order and actions should be taken against culprits.

Dr Kafeel said that culprits should be suspended and action should be taken against them.
