The Central Crime Branch police recently seized 175 lorryloads of sand that was reportedly stocked illegally at three places in Thiruvail village near Mangaluru.
According to a press note, the CCB team, led by Inspector K. Shrinivas, seized the sand stocked at Deviprasad compound, Narasimharao compound and in Amruta Nagar.
The total quantity of sand seized was 1,048 cubic metres and was worth around ₹7.87 lakh in the market.
A case has been registered with the Mangaluru Rural police station. It was referred to the Department of Mines and Geology for further investigation, the release said.
