Share market update: IT stocks down; HCL Tech, Infosys among top losers

NEW DELHI: Most IT stock including HCL Technologies (down 1.40 per cent), Infosys (down 0.98 per cent) and Mindtree (down 0.97 per cent) were suffering losses during afternoon trade on Monday.
Shares of KPIT Technologies (down 0.96 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 0.79 per cent), Wipro (down 0.52 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (down 0.19 per cent) were also under pressure.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.48 per cent down at 14,054 around 02:30 pm.
Meanwhile, Infibeam Incorporation (up 0.91 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 0.52 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (up 0.10 per cent) were the three components in the IT index that were up around that time.
Weakness in global stocks amid worries of a trade war between the US and China was weighing on domestic sentiment.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was flat at 10,820, while the BSE Sensex was also flat at 35,626.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
HPCL, Indian Oil Corporation and ICICI Bank were leading among the Nifty gainers.
On the other hand, Hindalco, Vedanta and Tata Steel were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
