Mangaluru: 13ft king cobra rescued, released to Charmadi Ghat

MANGALURU: A 13ft long king cobra, which was trapped to the roadside fence at Savanalu village in Belthangady taluk was rescued by a snake expert on Monday.

Villagers noticed the king cobra struggling to free itself after trapped to the fence by the side of Savanalu – Ayilahadime road. Villagers immediately contacted snake expert Joy Mascarenhas, who is popularly known as Snake Joy. Soon after receiving the information, Joy reached the spot with snake catching sticks and bag.

Initially, his task was to release the highly venomous king cobra from the fence. After successfully freeing the king cobra from the fence, it was put into a bag tactfully. Later, he released the snake to the forest in Charmadi Ghat.
