Party for more than 100 teens at rented home angers owner
Airbnb's great most of the time, but when it goes bad it can go really bad.
A 14-year-old who held a boozy party for more than 100 teenagers at an Airbnb property is "quite nervous" over the fallout.
Homeowner Jeremy Craw is angry.
He was called by a neighbour on Saturday night warning that an out-of-control party was under way at the Airbnb property he had booked out in Dunedin.

The more than 100 teenagers were moved on by police, but left behind a trail of glass and vomit.
"I just thought, 'what can I do?' It was a hundred people versus me."

The more than 100 teenagers were moved on by police, but left behind a trail of glass and vomit. Just three of the teenagers turned up the next day to clean-up, including the boy who organised the party.

Airbnb operator Jeremy Craw was surprised to learn from a neighbour that 100-plus teens were partying at his Dunedin home.
Airbnb, an online booking platform that allows members to find a place to stay, or list accommodation to rent, is investigating the incident.
Craw said the high school student booked the property with Airbnb using his own name, his own phone number, and a credit card. That transaction was meant to go through Monday.
"How does a 14-year-old even have a credit card to make the booking?"
Airbnb guests are meant to be over 18 to open an account.
Craw said the booking was made weeks in advance, but the person who made the booking was meant to have a few people over.
Airbnb had emailed him and he had missed a call, "but I would have expected a bit more assistance from them".
"I think they have been a bit flat to be honest."
His wife had spoken with the boy's father and he was very "apologetic".
'"Apparently he was quite nervous about the implications.
"I think he has totally learnt his lesson, he's in trouble with his parent and potentially his school."
Craw said the damage to his property was "minimal", mainly just cleaning, but said it could have been much worse.
Craw said he was worried if the house had burnt down that insurance may not have paid out.
The neighbour who alerted him over the party was getting a surprise visit from him, and a present.
"It is the least that I can do."
Airbnb said in an issued statement it had permanently banned 14-year-old from its platform and was fully supporting the host. Airbnb would provide law enforcement with its full support.
"We have launched an internal review to determine how this happened. We are constantly working to improve our platform, our policies, and our protections because even one incident is one too many."
