Leader of the Opposition B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was trying to shift his responsibility of farm loan waiver to the Centre by seeking 50% financial assistance.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the Centre had not given any assistance for these schemes to Maharashtra or Uttar Pradesh. “Mr. Kumaraswamy had sought 15 days’ time from farmers, but that period is over. It has been a month since he became the Chief Minister. People are waiting for the budget and farmers are not getting fresh loans. We will think of what should be done if the promises are not fulfilled,” he said.

Meanwhile, Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar hit back at Mr. Yeddyurappa asking why he did not announce loan waiver when he took over as Chief Minister. “You should have patience,” he said.
