The Porsche 356 "No. 1" Roadster received its street certification on June 8, 1948. Since then, Porsche has become a globally recognized brand that epitomizes sporty driving.
On June 8, the automaker marked its 70th birthday with celebrations around the United States, with Porsche Cars North America and its U.S. dealers hosting Sportscar Together Day events for owners and the public.
The company estimates that more than 26,000 people attended events at Porsche dealerships, as well as at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Ault Park Concours d'Elegance in Cincinnati and at the Porsche Experience centers in Atlanta and Los Angeles.

"Porsche packs 70 years of sports car experience into every model we build today," Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said in a statement. "The performance, design and feel are always unmistakably Porsche, whether on country roads or in the daily commute. Sportscar Together Day gives our customers and fans a chance to share their passion with us."

The anniversary events culminate Sept. 27-30 with what could be the largest Porsche gathering in the world — Rennsport Reunion VI at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey, Calif. Vintage and contemporary Porsche race cars, their drivers and Porsche engineers are the stars of this event. A similar Porsche reunion in 2015 drew nearly 60,000 people.
