China proposes trilateral summit amid India-Pakistan standoff

China today proposed a trilateral summit between India, Pakistan and China. Chinese Ambassador to India categorically mentioned that such an effort is necessary to maintain peace along the border.
Chinese Ambassador to India, Luo Zhaohui, said that the two countries (India-China) cannot afford to be involved in another Doklam like incident.
Drawing a comparision with (China, Russia & Mongolia) a trilateral grouping, he said if such an arrangement was possible, then why can't India, Pakistan and China develop a common trilateral platform.
He also mentioned that Indian officials had expressed their willingness to have some kind of trilateral summit on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation
summit in Qingdao, China.
