Flood situation continues to be grim at Barak valley of Assam. Sources said, 5 persons lost their lives in flood related incidents at Barak valley today. Overall 4.5 lakh people have been affected at 6 districts in current wave of floods.

NDRF and SDRF rescued 6 thousand people today at Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts. Nearly 1.73 displaced people have taken shelter at temporary relief camps.

Assam Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta today visited Barak valley to assess the erosion and river embankment condition. He instructed officials to provide all helps to flood hit people.
