Highlights: AAP protesters disperse after being stopped by Delhi police at Parliament Street

Aam Aadmi Party leaders and workers are marching towards the Prime Minister’s residence on Sunday to protest against the lack of response by the Lt Governor Anil Baijal and the Centre to the sit-in by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his ministers at the LG’s house

Kejriwal along with deputy chief Minister Manish Sisodia and cabinet ministers Satyendar Jain and Gopal Rai, has been camping in the Raj Niwas demanding Lt Governor’s direction to the IAS officers to end their “strike” and approve doorstep ration delivery scheme, since last Monday.

Below are the highlights:

7pm: Protestors disperse peacefully, from Parliament Street. AAP leader Sanjay Singh says that they will be collecting 10 lakh letters by going door to door and will launch a bigger movement later.

6.25pm: The protestors have been stopped by the police at Parliament Street.

6.05pm: They don’t have permission (for protest march). They’ve been contained at Parliament street. They’re being told that they can’t go any further. Specially trained personnel are deployed here. We’re sure they’ll (AAP members & protesters) listen to us: DCP New Delhi on AAP protest

6pm: Central government has created a situation where the chief minister is being forced to protest, says CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury at the AAP protest.

5.30pm: The AAP leaders and supporters have begun their march from Mandi House towards PM Modi’s residence.

4.15pm: Let us do our work. We are feeling frightened and victimised. We are being used for completely political reasons, says Varsha Joshi, Delhi transport commissioner.

4.05pm: I would like to inform that we are not on strike. The information that IAS officers in Delhi are on strike is completely false and baseless. We are attending meetings, all departments are doing their works. We are sometimes also working on holidays: Manisha Saxena, IAS association.

4pm: Delhi IAS officers association hold a press conference, say lots of misconceptions are being spread about us.

3.55pm: CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury says will join the AAP protest march till PM Modi’s house.

2.23 pm: Delhi Police says the call by AAP to march towards PM office or residence is without permission.

AAP leaders allege party supporters are being prevented from taking part in the rally.

2.00pm: Four stations falling in Lutyens’ Delhi zone shut. Entry and exit at Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk and Janpath stations closed from 2 pm onwards.

Interchange service will be available at the Central Secretariat station.

1.55 pm: AAP’s Saurabh Bhardwaj says there “won’t be any violence”.
