HYDERABAD: Yellamma cheruvu(lake) near Kukatpally has been in the spotlight since close to a decade due to encroachment by realtors.

It is to be seen now if the lake will receive any reprieve from the encroachers, now that Minister for IT and Municipal Administration and Urban Development, KT Rama Rao, directed MA&UD department, Principal Secretary, Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner, B Janardhan Reddy and city Mayor, Bonthu Rammohan to take legal action on the issue.

On Friday, a Twitter user, Sivaramaraju with Twitter handle, @kalakurthy, Tweeted to the minister complaining about encroachment of the lake. Rao responded on Saturday by Tweeting to officials from MA&UD, GHMC and the Mayor saying, “Direct @arvindkumar_ias and @CommissionrGHMC @bonthurammohan to act swiftly and file criminal cases on the lake encroachers immediately”.
