Gilbert Thomas Fawcett, age 90, of Enon Valley, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Christian House in East Palestine. He was born on January 14, 1928, in Enon Valley, Pa., a son of the late George R. and Myrtle Studebaker Fawcett. Gilbert enlisted into the Army in 1946 and served during the Korean War and Occupation of Japan. After his discharge, he operated the Fawcett Feed Mill and later was employed as a welder and machinist for Strohecker Inc. in Enon Valley. He was a member of the Enon Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge #411 F&AM of Enon Valley, life member of the American Legion in Bessemer and the VFW of New Galilee. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, LaVon Elder Fawcett; three children, Kevin (Helen) Fawcett of Fairhope, Ala., Karen (John) Cynkar of Enon Valley, and Kenneth (Lisa) Fawcett of Cranberry Twp.; four grandchildren, Nathan and Grace Fawcett, and Michael and Emma Cynkar, and two brothers, Richard (Lorna) Fawcett of Roswell, N.M., and George (Ginny) Fawcett of East Palestine. Gilbert was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth (Dale) Ehrenberg. A private family memorial service was held at the VAN DYKE-SWANEY RETTIG FUNERAL HOME in East Palestine, Ohio, with Pastor Duane Herron officiating.
