LUDHIANA: Dugri police booked three residents of Passi Nagar after their dog bit their 59-year-old neighbour on Saturday. It is the second such incident in the past two days, when the owner of a pet dog has been booked.

The case has been registered based on the statement of Balwinder Kaur, 59, a resident of Passi Nagar on Pakhowal Road. She said pet belonging to her neighbours Ravi, Manjit Singh and Radha used to bark at people. On Friday, when she went for an evening walk, the dog pounced on her and bit her. The woman further alleged that it is the third time that the dog has bit her. Earlier, she had warned the owners to control their pet, but to no avail. Investigating officer at Dugri police station, ASI Sukhdev Singh, said a case under sections of 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC has been registered against the owners.

On Friday, division number 4 police had registered a case against a man, Twinkle, a resident of Chhawni Mohalla, after his pet dog bit the 13-year-old son of his neighbour.
