NEW DELHI:
Delhi BJP chief
Manoj Tiwari on Sunday said that it was "shocking" that chief ministers of four states had come out in support of Arvind Kejriwal who, he said, had gone on a strike to "evade" the problems being faced by the people. The support seemed to be based more on political bias towards BJP than on logic, Tiwari claimed.
"It saddens me to see that the chief minister of Bengal, which has been witnessing rampant violence against opposition political workers, is speaking of democratic rights in Delhi. It is comical to see that Trinmool Congress leader has made Kerala's CPM government its new political ally. Bengal and Kerala are two states that have broken all records of violence sponsored by the ruling party," Tiwari alleged.
Tiwari said the four CMs had become "guest artists" in the political drama of Delhi. "We call upon them to understand the problems being faced by the people of Delhi and convince their friend, Arvind Kejriwal, to discontinue this strike and work towards solving the water, electricity and pollution-related problems," he said. Tiwari said the Kejriwal government had failed the people of Delhi on all fronts.
Leader of opposition Vijender Gupta, along with BJP MLA M S Sirsa, MP Pravesh Verma and
AAP rebel Kapil Mishra, continued his hunger strike at the
Delhi secretariat. Gupta wrote a letter to Kejriwal, asking him to keep political differences aside and work for the people of Delhi. Delhi BJP workers from 13 districts held demonstrations at 248 places across the city against the Delhi government.
