DeKalb and surrounding counties are under a heat advisory through 7 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
A dangerous combination of high heat and humidity are in the forecast, according to the service. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90s Saturday and may reach the upper 90s on Sunday.
"The extended duration of heat will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions," according to the advisory.
The weather service encourages residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, check on relatives and neighbors and take extra precaution when outside. People overcome by heat should move to a shaded and cool location, and call 911 if someone is suffering from heat stroke, according to the service.
