“I always liked to draw cartoons. I started drawing when I was young but the last few years I have been mostly painting."
STRASBURG Bridgett Keim loves to draw and paint. The Beach City resident recently lent her talents to the Mickey Mart, located at 7532 US 250, Strasburg, for a wall mural.
Christine Holloway, manager of Mickey Mart, was seeking someone to paint murals on a wall. The murals would incorporate all about Strasburg.
Keim, a Garaway High graduate, responded to the request. She began painting last fall and recently completed painting the wall between the Mickey Mart store and Taco Bell.
“I took photos and used them as a guideline,” she said.
“I always liked to draw cartoons. I started drawing when I was young but the last few years I have been mostly painting. Then my friend asked me to paint her baby’s nursery,” she said. “I loved doing that. I am hoping to get more jobs in the future.”
Keim uses acrylic paint and just completed murals of the Strasburg Fire Department, complete with a beef cow dressed in a firefighter’s jacket and hat driving a fire truck. She also made murals of the new elementary, middle and high school, the Emma Huber Memorial library and village offices, Garver Brothers Store, a sign for the Lynn Auto Theatre, and orange and black paw prints touting the girls’ softball teams and their state championships.
Keim is a veterinarian technician at the Berlin-East Holmes Veterinary Clinic. She likes to be there for the animals and is interested in helping with the ones that need dental work.
“I love to see an animal that is ill and then see a good outcome and the animal gets well,” she said.
Keim is especially fond of Red Pandas and loves to research information about them. She also likes to care for exotic animals.
Her sister Kaylee Keim of Beach City also assisted with helping to paint the background of the murals.
