AAP asked to clarify stand on Sikh Referendum

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has strongly condemned Khaira for backing secessionism with his support for the referendum.

CHANDIGARH: The Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal have asked Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener Arvind Kejriwal to clarify his stand on Sikh Referendum 2020, propounded by Sikh radicals for the creation of Khalistan. Senior AAP leader and leader of the Opposition in Punjab, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, has voiced support for the referendum.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has strongly condemned Khaira for backing secessionism with his support for the referendum. He termed Khaira’s statement favouring the Referendum as unfortunate, and added that the leader of the Opposition seemed to be indulging in political antics and theatrics without any sense of the history of Punjab or any realization of the possible consequences of his statement.

Khaira had on Friday said that he supported Sikh Referendum 2020 as Sikhs had a right to demand justice against atrocities suffered by them.
