Federer to Stuttgart final, reclaims No. 1

STUTTGART, Germany — Roger Federer defeated Nick Kyrgios 6-7 (2), 6-2, 7-6 (5) to reach the Stuttgart Open final and reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Rafael Nadal on Saturday.

Federer plays Milos Raonic who beat Lucas Pouille.

More tennis: Johanna Konta beat defending champion Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-3 to reach the Nottingham Open final for the second straight year. Top-seeded Ashleigh Barty awaits in Sunday's final after she beat Naomi Osaka 6-3, 6-4. ... Andy Murray confirmed he will make his return to competitive tennis at the Queen's Club tournament next week after almost a year out injured. The three-time major winner has not played since last year's Wimbledon due to a hip injury and subsequent surgery.

Autos: Brett Moffitt won the NASCAR Truck series race at Iowa Speedway, his hometown track. Moffitt, 25, led 76 laps for his second victory of the season. He started 16th, the lowest spot on the grid for a race winner in 2018. Noah Gragson was second. He briefly passed Moffitt on the final lap, but his bold effort on the backstretch sent him into the wall and allowed Moffitt to cross first. Harrison Burton was third, followed by David Gilliland. Johnny Sauter was fifth. ... Tennis great Rafael Nadal played the role of official starter to get the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans classic endurance race underway amid light rain.

Luge: Josef Fendt was elected to another term as International Luge Federation president.

High schools: Kelsey Chmiel of Saratoga Springs High School finished fourth in the two-mile at the New Balance Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. Chmiel ran 10 minutes, 9.65 seconds to finish just more than five seconds behind winner Madelynn Denner of Oak Ridge High School in California. Schenectady High School's Keegan Cochrane, Lamont Walters, Kevin Jackson and Trevor Davis finished fourth in the 1,600 sprint medley relay in the Nation and All-American division at the same meet. The Patriots finished in 3:28.20.

NBA: Authorities say Roger Randolph, a brother of Kings forward Zach Randolph, was shot and killed outside of an Indiana bar.
