AHMEDABAD: A 41-year-old woman approached the Chandkheda police alleging she was thrashed by her husband because she took some money from his wallet without informing him. The city police have booked woman’s husband for assault and criminal intimidation.

The woman, a resident of Motera area, stated in the FIR that she had got married to her husband 14 years ago and they have two kids a son and a 10-year-old daughter.

“My husband gets angry over very frivolous issues and frequently doubts my character. After few years after marriage, our relationship was on shaky grounds. But I tolerated him to save my marriage and also in the interest of my kids,” stated the woman’s complainant.

“On June 12, I told my husband that I took some money from his wallet for some urgent household expense. Having heard this, he got angry and questioned how I dared to take money from his wallet. Before I could say anything, he started punching me on my face and back,” stated the complainant.

In immense pain, the woman called up her friend who rushed her to a nearby private hospital where she was hospitalised for a day on Thursday.

With the help of a friend and her parents, the woman approached the police on Friday and lodged the complaint, said a police official.

The Chadnkheda police lodged the FIR against her husband under IPC sections 498(A) (cruelty by husband towards wife), 323(voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (i) (criminal intimidation).
