One of the four men stabbed earlier this month in a fight on Lark Street has died, police said Sunday.

Elijah Smith, 22, of Albany, had been in critical condition at Albany Medical Center Hospital since June 7.

Police said the fight began around 1 a.m. at the Lark Tavern and spilled outside to the intersection of Lark Street and Madison Avenue.

When police arrived that night, they found four men with stab wounds. Police arrested Joseph Sanchez, 25, of Albany, shortly after arriving on scene.

Sanchez had been charged with first-degree attempted murder. That charge will likely be upgraded Monday.

Smith’s death marks the fifth homicide in the city this year.
