WWE news: Nia Jax makes HUGE Ronda Rousey statement ahead of Money in the Bank clash

RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax feels very honoured to step into the ring with Ronda Rousey tonight at Money in the Bank.

Jax challenged Rousey to a fight at NBCUniversal upfronts in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall last month and tonight’s clash will mark the UFC legend’s first ever Singles Match in professional wrestling.

The RAW Women’s Champion admits she is a bit nervous ahead of the match, which may be on the main event, but is very keen to share the ring with the first ever UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion who is a pioneer of women in sports.

Jax told Yahoo Sports: “I know it sounds so cheesy, but I am honoured I get this opportunity to step into the ring with a woman who has pioneered so much for women in sports.

“Ronda has gone out there and been unapologetically herself. She is who she is. I am so excited and nervous. I’m using those nerves to fuel me as well.

“It’s going to be such an amazing match and I can’t wait for people to see what Ronda Rousey is capable of and what we’re capable of doing together. It’s such a powerhouse match.”

Rousey poses as the favourite to win the RAW Women’s Championship as she made The Irresistible Force tap out to her signature Armbar submission hold last Monday night on RAW.

Jax taunted The Baddest Woman on the Planet claiming that she would never be able to even lock that manoeuvre on her.

The ex-NXT star won the title at WrestleMania 34 after beating Alexa Bliss and also successfully defended the belt at Backlash against the same opponent.

Jax showed heart in both title defences but might need something extra when she takes on an athlete of Rousey’s calibre.
