AGRA: Chetan Deshrajan, 20, son of Aligarh district Congress Committee general secretary Rakesh Deshrajan, was allegedly shot and injured by two unidentified bike-borne men in Sasni police station area on Saturday morning.

According to police, the crime was committed at around 8am when Chetan, who is a BSc first year student at Aligarh Muslim University, was going for his tuition classes in Aawas Vikas area. He was talking on his mobile when he was allegedly attacked by the two miscreants.

Talking to mediapersons at the hospital where he is undergoing treatment, Chetan said that the two men, wearing helmets, accosted and started abusing him. One of them then shot him, after which the duo fled.

“I did not recognise either of the men and their motorcycle did not have a number plate,” Chetan, who was shot in the stomach, said.

Talking to TOI, Chetan’s father Rakesh said, “I received a phone call informing me that Chetan had been shot and injured and was admitted in hospital. We immediately rushed to the private hospital where he was admitted and then shifted him to JN Medical College for further treatment. I filed a complaint at Sasni police station.”

Station house officer of Sasni police station, Aruna Rai said, “So far there is no indication that Chetan had any rivalry with anyone. He also could not identify the shooters. An FIR has been lodged under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC against two unidentified persons. We are investigating the attack.”
