West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has requested Prime Minister Modi to “resolve” the ongoing stalemate concerning the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s government in Delhi.

Banerjee, who supported Kejriwal earlier and appealed to the central government to ensure the rights of an elected chief minister also requested the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to allow her along with chief ministers of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to meet Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal has been on sit-in demonstration at LG’s office with his ministers for last few days.

Banerjee arrived in Delhi late in the evening yesterday to attend the fourth governing council’s meeting of NITI Ayog, chaired by PM Modi. Following the meeting, she tweeted, “I along with the honourable CMs of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala have requested honourable PM today to resolve the problems of Delhi government immediately.”

Banerjee is the first chief minister and an Opposition leader who came out in support of Kejriwal. She said earlier, “Chief Minister of Delhi is sitting in a dharna in LG’s office for the last few days in the capital city of the country. Elected CM must get due respect. May I appeal to the Govt of India and LG of Delhi to resolve the problem immediately so that people do not suffer.”
