The former Union Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Saturday told Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy that he need not cast doubts over his five-year tenure in the office as the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) had formed the coalition for five years and not just till the next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Expressing surprise over the Chief Minister’s statement, Mr. Moily told reporters in Chickballapur that Mr. Kumaraswamy should refrain from making statements which would cast doubts over the stability of the government.

The Chief Minister’s post would not be rotated, and the Congress decided to support Mr. Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister for five years, the former Union Minister said.

On Friday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he would be the Chief Minister of Karnataka till the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and nobody could disturb him from the Chief Minister’s chair for the next one year.
