Thousands of Muslims assembled at the biggest congregation on the Red Road (Indira Gandhi Sarani) here to offer special prayers on the occasion, which marks the end of month-long Ramzan.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the special prayer on Red Road and wished everybody a happy Eid-ul-Fitr.
"May this Eid bring happiness and endless blessings from the Almighty. Eid Mubarak," Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle yesterday.
Muslims from all walks of life assembled at mosques and eidgahs to offer Eid prayers as thanksgiving for the month-long fasting of Ramzan.

People were seen exchanging greetings and gifts and giving alms to the needy who had gathered around the mosques and eidgahs.
