An 18-year-old house help allegedly committed suicide at her employer’s residence on Friday evening in north-west Delhi’s Keshav Puram, the police said on Saturday.
A suicide note has been recovered, the police said.
DCP (North-West) Aslam Khan said the domestic help, Payal Thapa, was from Nepal. She was working in a house in Keshav Puram’s A Block for the past three months.
“In her suicide note written in Nepali, she said that no one is responsible for her death. She did not give any reason,” Ms. Khan said.
The police received a PCR call from her employer who found Payal hanging from the ceiling fan in a room. The help used to take care of the employer’s child, said sources. Payal was rushed to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. Her body has been preserved for post-mortem. “We have informed her family. Inquest proceedings under Section 174 [police to inquire and report on suicide] of Criminal Procedure Code have been initiated,” Ms. Khan said.
