Locals urge Forest Department staff to capture the animal

A camera, set up to track the movement of suspicious persons, has recorded the movement of a leopard near Rushikonda.

The camera had recorded the movement of a fully grown big cat, confirming its presence, on the night of June 5. The police informed the Forest Department officials and also cautioned people living in the area not to venture out of their homes after dark.

The locals demanded that the Forest Department set up traps to capture the animal as it was threat to people living in nearby colonies. The animal seems to be a leopard going by the CCTV footage. Forest personnel have been deployed to patrol the area regularly for some day but after that there was no sign of the animal or its movements, according to the Chief Conservator of Forests Rahul Pandey.
