Over 100 volunteers trained to respond to emergencies

Seven cardiac emergency resuscitation stations have been set up at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, announced GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), which operates the city airport. This initiative is part of GHIAL’s signature programme, #PassengerIsPrime.

The emergency stations will provide immediate assistance to any passenger or visitor in case of sudden cardiac arrest. They have been set up at the domestic security hold area and one each at the international security hold area, check-in area, domestic arrivals, international arrivals and the airport village.

Each station has an automated external defibrillator (AED), an emergency bag with intubation, suction and other essential equipment like an oxygen cylinder, first aid kit and a stretcher packed inside a compact cabinet.

Over 100 volunteers from across the stakeholders in the airport have been trained for operating AED and providing CPR in case of emergency. A crash cart with life-saving equipment has also been introduced near the domestic arrivals’ baggage conveyor belt.

The airport also has a 24X7 medical centre with 17-bed emergency treatment centre operated by Apollo Hospitals, a press release said.
