HYDERABAD: In yet another big boost for the automobile manufacturing ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh, French automotive firm
Faurecia on Friday announced setting up of a new automobile interiors plant in Ammavarupalli inside the KIA Motors supplier park at
Anantapur district.
Faurecia, which carried out the ground-breaking ceremony on Friday, will be investing Rs 50 crore in the new 15,000-sqm site that will lead to generation of around 400 jobs. The Faurecia plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2019 and will have a daily production of above 1,000 instrument panels for
Hyundai Mobis and Kia Motors.
South Korean auto maker Kia Motors Corporation is investing over $1 billion to set up its new manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh that will be spread over 23 million sft and will have a capacity to produce 3 lakh cars annually and employ around 3,000 people.
Faurecia Interiors India vice-president (interiors IJKT division) Luis Navarro-Llacer said, “India represents the fourth biggest automotive market and it is an ideal base for the development of our business. Our new facility will provide near-term capacity improvements and allow Faurecia to bring forth a renewed commitment to India’s automotive OEM segment.”
Faurecia, that has been operational in India since 2004, employs 3,600 people and has two technical centres and 11 production facilities spread across India. The group serves OEMs like FCA, Renault-Nissan, ISUZU, Ford, Hyundai, Maruti-Suzuki, Tata, Toyota and Volkswagen.
Founded in 1997, Faurecia has grown to become a major player in the global automotive industry with 290 sites, including 30 R&D centers and 1.09 lakh employees in 35 countries.
It operates in three areas of business -- automotive seating, interior systems and clean mobility. In 2017, the group posted total sales of Euro 20.2 billion.
