Who said Vedic education is not remunerative? Not only the employment stage, even the learning phase fetches one princely sums towards scholarship, if the announcement by the TTD-run Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) is any indication.
Earlier, the TTD used to pay ₹1 lakh as scholarship for all the students pursuing traditional courses, which has witnessed a quantum leap in its thirteenth year of existence. The courses and the new scholarship amounts are as follows: Sastri (B.A. Veda) – ₹3 lakh, Sastri (B.A. Agama and Pourohityam) – ₹2 lakh, Sastri (B.A. Kalpam, Bhashyam and Vedangam) - ₹4 lakh, Acharya (M.A. Veda, Agama and Pourohityam) - ₹1 lakh, Acharya (M.A. Kalpam, Bhashyam and Vedangam) - ₹1.5 lakh and Visishtacharya (M.Phil) – ₹1 lakh. Scholars pursuing Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) will get ₹10,000, ₹12,000 and ₹15,000 for the first, second and third years respectively.
