A leopard entered a village in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district on Saturday morning and got trapped in a shed by the owner of a poultry farm. But it was able to escape from its ‘prison’ a few hours later.
Around 6.30 a.m., when Maruthi went to feed his chickens, he saw that a leopard in the shed. He immediately locked the door and informed the police, who alerted the Forest Department.
By the time the experts arrived from Hassan, at around 3 p.m., the leopard escaped, leaving 20 dead chickens in its wake.
