NEW PHILADELPHIA HARCATUS Tri-County Family Support Centers are hosting a free Poverty Simulation that guarantees participants an experience they won’t forget. Poverty is something that affects everyone in a community. Some of our community members experience poverty daily. Others may see poverty as something that only affects other people.

This unique simulation will allow up to 20 community members from Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties living in poverty and up to 148 professionals working within various agencies, organizations, companies, churches, or government offices to experience both sides of the coin. The simulation is broken down into four 15-minute sessions. Each session represents one week. For some, the goal is to survive, provide for your family, and maintain your home. For others, it is a chance to become the professionals in control. Take a step back and experience a life in which many of our community members live daily. Will you survive?

The Poverty Simulation will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Ave. NE, New Philadelphia on June 28. Light refreshments will be provided, and there will be an opportunity for area non-profits to set up displays, at no cost, to share their agency information.

A fun photo booth and sound will be provided courtesy of Mobile Jams Entertainment, LLC.

The Mission of HARCATUS Tri-County Community Action Organization includes planning and coordination of programs designed to combat problems of poverty and to seek elimination of conditions of poverty as they affect inhabitants of urban and rural communities in Harrison, Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties. This educational event is only one of the ways HARCATUS reaches out to our community members and brings them together.
