JALANDHAR: A day after Congress MLA from Jalandhar West, Sushil Rinku blocked team of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and did not allow the officials to carry out demolition of an illegal colony on Kala Sanghia road, Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Saturday dared
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to register case against Congress MLA for obstructing officials in discharging their duty to protect something illegal.
Accusing CM of having double standards he said that on one side LIP MLA Simarjit Singh Bains was booked for obstructing officials and trespass when he went inside Verka Milk Plant in Ludhiana to expose corruption but on the other CM was maintaining stoic silence over the brazenly illegal activity of his party MLA Sushil Rinku, who climbed atop a earth moving machine to prevent the officials from demolition of illegal colony.
“What does Captain Amarinder Singh construe of MLA Rinku’s activity to climb upon a machine to prevent it from carrying out official orders of demolition, shout slogans publically and break section 144 always in force in the state? Does it not call for FIR with offences u/s 353 for preventing officials to carry out duty and u/s 451 for trespassing upon a government machine?,” he asked.
“CM is particularly vindictive towards opposition leaders like Bains and me as we are his vocal critics and dare to call
spade a spade,” he said adding it was a testing time for CM if he would take action against his erring MLA.
Notably, Local Bodies minister
Navjot Singh Sidhu had found that quite a few illegal colonies were being developed in utter violation of law and there were flagrant violations of building bye-laws in commercial buildings. He had ordered suspension of with eight officials and charge-sheeting of two others apart from strict action against the illegal colonies and buildings. However on Friday Rinku opposed it publicly and prevented action against an illegal colony.
