Delhi: Snatchers drag teen 20 meters for phone

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old man was dragged for almost 20 meters by three snatchers on a bike while they were trying to make away with his phone. The incident took place in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar on Saturday. Two juveniles were caught from the spot while the third managed to flee, police said.

Police said that the matter was reported when a passerby made a PCR call. The victim, Yash Malik, is a journalism student and was heading back home when he was attacked.

Malik told the cops that he got a call and took it while he was on his way, when suddenly a motorcycle with three men sped towards him and one of the pillion riders tried to snatch his phone. However, he held the phone tightly, and got dragged as the accused also did not let it go.

After getting dragged, Malik lost his grip and the juveniles took the phone away but the driver of the motorcycle lost his balance the driver of the vehicle lost balance and all three of them fell. The driver managed to flee, but the other two were caught hold of by the locals, who thrashed them and handed them over to cops.

Police said that a case was registered and a hunt was launched to nab the third accused.
