Reds eyeing Brazilian youngster

Liverpool are said to be looking at a deal for Flamengo's Lucas Paquetta.

The Brazil under-20 international, who was on the 35-man provisional World Cup squad for Brazil's senior teams, is thought to have turned heads at Manchester City and Real Madrid.

And now Jurgen Klopp is looking at the attacking midfielder, according to PremiumSportHD.

That's after a deal for Nabil Fekir fell apart earlier this month, leaving Liverpool needing to reassess their options in hope of signing a new No 10.

Eden Hazard worry

Chelsea can’t afford to let Eden Hazard leave, but it would spell dire consequences for the club if he did depart.

That is the view of former Chelsea icon Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Real Madrid are long-term admirers of Hazard, although it is unclear whether new boss Julen Lopetegui will make a push to sign the Belgian playmaker.

And Gudjohnsen is keeping his fingers crossed that Hazard stays otherwise he fears it would spell dire consequences for the club.

“I hope Eden stays, I really do,” Gudjohnsen said when quizzed over Hazard’s future.

“Losing him would not be good for the team, but I am sure events at the club are on his mind."

David de Gea contract

David de Gea has agreed a new contract with Manchester United, reports claim.

The Spanish international, who will be in action against Portugal tonight, continues to be linked with a mega-money move to Champions League winners Real Madrid.

But any prospect of De Gea leaving Old Trafford appears unlikely, according to the Manchester Evening News.

They claim De Gea has agreed to commit his future to Manchester United by signing a lucrative five-year contract with Jose Mourinho’s side.

De Gea was asked about his future this week, but responded: “I don’t think Florentino Perez has my number.”

Done Deal: Granit Xhaka signs

Granit Xhaka has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, the Gunners have announced.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who is part of Switzerland's World Cup squad, featured in all 38 Premier League matches last season.

New Arsenal head coach Unai Emery said on the club's website: "I'm delighted that Granit has extended his contract with us. He's an important member of the squad and is still young so will be able to develop even more."

Alex Telles competition

Liverpool are narrow favourites in the battle to sign Porto full-back Alex Telles, according to the bookies.

The Reds are monitoring the £35m-rated left-back, who racked up an incredible 14 assists last season, but there’s plenty of Premier League interest.

Bookmakers BetStars have priced Liverpool as 3/1 favourites to secure the Brazilian’s services, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all trailing.

“Brazilian left-back Alex Telles is a wanted man this summer after providing 14 assists during Porto’s title-winning campaign last season and the 25-year-old has attracted the interest of four Premier League giants,” said BetStars director of trading Ian Marmion.

“Liverpool are the market leaders at 3/1 to win the chase for the Porto star this summer. However, the Reds could face fierce competition from rivals Chelsea who are priced at 7/2 to bring the Brazilian full-back to Stamford Bridge.

“Manchester United have been linked with a host of full-backs during the summer transfer window and the Red Devils are available at 7/1 to get their hands on Telles, while their noisy neighbours Manchester City trail behind at 9/1 in the race for the playmaking defender.”

Lucas Torreira medical

Arsenal have medical staff in Russia to complete the signing of Lucas Torreira, according to reports in Italy.

Torreira featured briefly during Uruguay’s World Cup victory over Egypt today but will be an Arsenal player in due course.

He is expected to sign a five-year deal worth £2.6m a year after Arsenal agreed a £26.19m fee with Sampdoria.

Arsenal already have the doctors over in Russia to complete the medical procedures and he will officially be an Arsenal player before the end of the World Cup, according to SampNews24.

Sign Kalidou Koulibaly!

Jose Mourinho should look to strengthen his defence this summer with the signing of Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson.

Robson says Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has not lived up to his billing since his £30million move from Villarreal in 2016.

And he thinks Koulibaly would be the perfect man to make make a big improvement to Jose Mourinho’s defence.

“Bailly hasn’t done it at Manchester United, seems to have fallen out of favour under Mourinho,” Robson said. “Koulibaly has been brilliant for Napoli over the last two years. I think he would certainly suit their style of play. I think he’s the right sort of defender for them.”

Hakim Ziyech future

Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech has been given the green light to join a bigger club.

Liverpool, Dortmund and Roma have all been linked with the Morocco international, and Morocco coach Herve Renard is backing Ziyech, 25, to go in search of a high-profile switch.

“For a coach like me, it's great to have such a player. Because every day, during the qualifying matches and the preparation, he showed a talent that few other players have. He sees many things earlier than other players. He is a fantastic player,” Renard told Voetbal International.

"I wish him success in finding the best possible club. He has the talent and the qualities to play for a nice club."

Maurizio Sarri appointment

Bookies believe Chelsea will appoint Maurizio Sarri ‘very soon’ after they suspended betting on the next Blues boss.

Leading bookmaker Coral say they have taken a surge of bets this morning which left the former Napoli man was as short as 1/6 to get the job.

The firm then pulled down their market with Coral traders believing an announcement is imminent that Sarri is taking over from Antonio Conte.

“On the evidence of the number and size of the bets we have taken this morning, this looks to be a done deal therefore we are now waiting for the dust to settle with this market, but barring something unexpected, it looks as though Sarri is going to be appointed as the next Chelsea boss very soon,” said Coral spokesman John Hill.
