DELTONA – Larry Kent, long-time Deltona businessman and entrepreneur recently donated a parcel of property at the corner of Enterprise Road and Deltona Boulevard to The House Next Door.
“As a member of the Deltona business community for more than four decades, I have watched southwest Volusia County grow and become what it is today. However, there has become a tremendous gap in family education programs and mental health services that many of our neighbors need,” he said.” The House Next Door has proven to be an effective organization with outstanding leadership, which made my decision to invest an easy one.”
Kent has been a supporter and benefactor of the agency for 27 years. In 1991, he provided The House Next Door and I-CARE (a child abuse prevention organization) use of the model homes on his property to deliver services to families. In 2010, with the model homes in need of remodeling, Kent invited the agency to use his former suite of offices at Justin Square to provide counseling services. Through the years, Kent has advocated on behalf of the agency and the need for social services in the City of Deltona and southwest Volusia County.
The House Next Door has more than 40 years of experience providing mental health and trauma counseling for families and individuals, school-based programs, parenting programs, and in-home services.
The vision for the future of the property is to provide social services, by multiple agencies, in one location, for the citizens of Deltona. For information about The House Next Door or to donate, visit thehnd.com or call 386-734-7571.
