Jason Allen of Fredericksburg, Virginia, reeled in a nurse shark fishing off the southern tip of Assateague Island on Thursday night.

The non-aggressive species usually inhabits the ocean floor during the day, before coming out at night to hunt for fish, mollusks and crustaceans, according to National Geographic.

They are slow-swimming and, for the most part, harmless to humans. Nurse sharks can grow up to 14 feet and are usually a grey-brownish color that, unlike other sharks, are smooth to the touch.

Following the catch, Allen set the shark free.
