2019 BMW X5 Gets A Virtual Six-Wheel Pickup Truck Conversion

As of earlier this week, the BMW X5 is in its fourth generation, and with new mechanicals, technology and a slightly larger footprint, it promises to be better at just about everything compared to its predecessor.

Until the Munich-based automaker allows journalists to sit behind the wheel, we have to take their word for granted. But in the meantime, we can treat our senses to different renderings, such as the BMW X5 M and this 6×6.

The difference between the two is that the former is indeed coming to challenge the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLE63, while the latter is just for kicks. It does look rather curious, with the extra axle and an open bed added at the rear by Aksyonov Nikita, but thankfully, BMW won’t even consider building such a thing.

Back in the real world, BMW is making the final preparations before launching the new X5. The SUV will be offered, at first, with two petrol and two diesel engines, with outputs ranging between 265PS (261hp / 195kW) and 462PS (455hp / 350kW).

More models are coming in the future, and besides the anticipated M version, there will be a plug-in hybrid, too.

The new BMW X5 will go on sale in Europe soon, and will arrive on this side of the Atlantic in November, with pricing will be released close to the launch dates.
