DeKALB – Safe Passage, DeKalb County’s domestic violence and sexual assault crisis center, will benefit from a run/walk event July 4 at Pokanoka’s Café of Shabbona Lake State Park, 4100 Bluebird Lane in Shabbona.
This is the event’s sixth year, according to a news release. Attendees will be able to participate in the 8-mile run through the state park or walk about 2 miles near the lake’s edge. Check-in is 7 a.m. at the café. The top three finishers in each age group will be recognized on a plaque displayed in the restaurant.
Safe Passage serves men, women and children of all ages and provides free and confidential services, including safe housing, crisis intervention and medical advocacy for victims, counseling, legal advocacy, children’s services, prevention programming and a partner abuse intervention program.
