Man Utd transfer news: Fred injury update revealed by Brazil boss Tite
MANCHESTER UNITED may be sweating on Fred’s fitness after Brazil boss Tite provided an update on the midfielder.
United confirmed earlier this month that they have agreed a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for the 25-year-old to head to Old Trafford.
And that announcement came after he had passed a routine medical at the club’s Carrington training ground with flying colours.
Fred has since sustained an ankle injury though, with Real Madrid ace Casemiro taking him out in Brazil training.
Manchester United may be worried about their investment after Tite provided an update on Fred’s fitness ahead of his country’s World Cup showdown with Switzerland.
"We have 23 high-level athletes, Fred is not in a position to play," said Tite.
United will be hoping Fred’s ankle problem is not one which will continue to niggle at him.
The Belo Horizonte-born ace has been bought to play in midfield with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

And Jose Mourinho will be eager for him to be fit for pre-season so he can gel with his new team-mates.
Fred is not the only Brazil star carrying an injury in the build-up to the World Cup clash with Switzerland.
Talismanic forward Neymar has barely played since February having been injured in Paris Saint-Germain’s showdown with Marseille.
And Tite admits he is not yet back to full fitness, despite the fact he will face Switzerland.
"Neymar is not yet 100 percent," Tite added. "But physically, he is very privileged.
"His sprints, his speed are very impressive. He's not 100 percent yet ... but he's good enough to play well."
Brazil follow up their game against Switzerland by facing Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E.
