Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu laid the foundation stone for Septage Management System and Storm Water Drainage System for Itanagar City under AMRUT Scheme at Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.

Speaking at the foundation laying function, Mr. Naidu said that it is very unfortunate that the basic facilities, like drainage system, rain water harvesting system etc, are lacking in many of the cities in the country due to lack of proper urban planning system earlier.

He said people are shifting to the cities to have a better health care, education, employment and economic upliftment.

So it has become very important to improve the basic facilities to these cities, which the overnment is doing with the implementation of schemes like AMRUT and Smart City schemes.

Mr. Naidu said that development of Northeast is very important but at the same time it is also not an easy task due to its difficult terrain.

He said in order to build a strong, stable and prosperous nation development of the Northeast is very crucial.

He said terrorism and militancy are weakening the internal system and are not helping in the development of the country.

The Vice president added that bullet cannot solve the problem but ballot can, which is more powerful than the bullet.
