CHENNAI:A 22-year-old man allegedly slashed a girl’s hand after she ended their relationship on Wednesday and staged a drama that she had been attacked by two mobile phone-snatchers.

Police said Kaviyarasan of Ernavur was reportedly in a relationship with the victim. “Recently, the girl decided to end the relationship. Kaviyarasan asked her to meet him at the railway station at Ennore to discuss something important. The girl told him that since she was getting married to another man, he should leave her alone. This angered Kaviyarasan, who pulled out a small knife and slashed the girl’s hand.”

The victim fell unconscious and the man rushed her to the hospital and alerted the police that two unidentified men tried to snatch her mobile phone and attacked her. The girl gained consciousness and told the police that the man had attacked her. Kaviyarasan was arrested and remanded in judicial custody by a magistrate court.
