LUDHIANA: Depressed over alleged illicit relationship of his wife, a 25-year-old man has committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance on Thursday morning. The man was rushed to hospital however he eas declared brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Harvinder Singh, 25, a labourer.
On the complaint of deceased’s father the Jamalpur police have registered a case against the accused wife Jaspreet Kaur and his paramour Sukhjeet Singh of
Bhutta village, Dehlon, under sections of 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 of the
Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In his complaint to police, father Jasmel Singh of Mundiya Khurd said his son got married to Jaspreet one year ago.
He said Jaspreet had an illicit relationship with Sukhjeet of her village, which had strained the relations between Harvinder and Jaspreet. They would often fight over the issue and the matter reached village Panchayat.

Sukhwinder SIngh said about 20 days ago the woman’s family took her back along with them. Since then Harvinder was in depression. On Thursday, he went for a morning walk and returned by 6am. He took a bath and soon after he consumed poison.
ASI said the family has accused daughter-in-law and her paramour for abetting the extreme step by Harvinder. Police have booked the duo.
No arrests have been made so far.
