Punjab: Pet dog bites 13-year-old boy, owner booked

LUDHIANA: An FIR was lodged against a woman after her pet dog bit a 13-year-old boy in Chawani Mohalla in the Old City area.
The FIR was filed under section of 289 (Negligent conduct with respect to animal) of IPC against the pet owner Twinkle Manchanda (40).

In his compliant to police, one Arun Thapar said that his neighbourer Twinkle owns as pet labrador dog. On May 26 it bit his son who was standing outside his house at around 1.30pm. Twinkle lost the grip over the dog and it bit the boy on his right thigh.

Thapar accused that due to the negligence of Twinkle, his dog attacked his son.

The investigating officer said that with the intervention of area counslior, both the families decided to resolve the matter amicably. However, on Friday, the family of victim lodged a complaint with the police. The police have lodged an FIR after receiving the complaint.

The ASI added that about a year ago, the same dog had bitten the younger daughter of the complainant and that time both the families resolved the matter. The accused also promised to be cautions in future.
