Andhra Pradesh: Three held with Rs 11 lakh worth of gold coins

The Guntur Urban Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested three persons and recovered `11 lakh worth of gold coins and three motorcycles in Guntur city on Thursday.

GUNTUR: The Guntur Urban Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested three persons and recovered `11 lakh worth of gold coins and three motorcycles in Guntur city on Thursday.
 The police nabbed the trio with the help of CCTV cameras installed at the local bus stand.
Guntur Urban Superintendent of Police Ch Vijaya Rao said that the miscreants snatched a bag from a person last month at Guntur bus stand.

One of the accused, Karnati Sivaji, was involved in robbery cases in Vijayawada. He was released from a Juvenile Home in December, 2017.

He has since been living in Guntur and made friends with one Sk Gulzar in the city. The duo broke open the doors of a shop in the Kothapet area of the city and took away `10,000 cash on May 8. They later stole a motorcycle at KIMS in Guntur on June 6.

Later, they joined hands with Gulzar’s childhood friend Penuvarthi Sarat Kumar and snatched a trolley suitcase from a passenger Paravali Christu Das at NTR statue in Guntur.

The police recovered 250 grams of gold coins worth `11 lakh and three motorcycles from the accused.
Vijaya Rao said another 50 grams of gold coins are in the possession of of Gulzar’s father Imtiaz.
Vijaya Rao expressed the confidence that the remaining gold would be recovered soon.
