CHENNAI: Chennai City Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan, along with officials of Axis Bank, gave Rs 30 lakh personal accidental insurance money to the families of two police personnel who died in road accidents last year.

The statement from the police said that M Murali Kumar (26), attached to the Armed Force, was killed in a road accident on December 1, 2017. Similarly, Gopi Kumar, a Grade-2 personnel, died in an accident on May 5, 2017.

The personal accidental insurance claim was processed at Axis Bank and the families received the cheque from Viswanathan on Thursday.  The statement said that the bank had provided the family members with extra benefits such as zero balance account and ‘no interest’ transactions at other banks. The cheque for Murali was received by his mother M Saraswathi and for Gopi his wife Mohana Priya.
