Tiger Woods Struggles at U.S. Open, Will Miss Cut

The 14-time major-tournament champion shot 2-over-par 72, leaving him 10 over for the tournament

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y.— Spectators stood four deep at the ninth-hole tee here on Friday, lifting their phones to see Tiger Woods’s every move. After the clouds dispersed and the sun emerged at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club late Friday morning, Woods birdied the hole.

It was a rare reprieve for Woods at this year’s U.S. Open, however.  His day was done, his first U.S. Open in three years effectively over.
