Ayushman Bharat for 25L families

Jharkhand on Thursday signed an MoU with the Union Health Ministry for Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) implementation in the State. State Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi exchanged MoU documents with Union Health Minister JP Nadda during the Heath Ministers’ conference in New Delhi on Thursday.

The AB-NHPM will directly benefit 25 lakh families in the State, while rest 32 lakh families will get similar benefits under the Mukhyamantri Swasthya Beema Yojna. The Centre expressed satisfaction over the preparations done by the State government for implementation of the ambitious health insurance scheme.

Principal Secretary of Health department Nidhi Khare said on Thursday that the State government was fully prepared to implement the AB-NHPM. She said that the scheme will prove to be a milestone in providing better treatment to the poor families as the scheme has been drafted keeping in mind the requirements of the poor. She said that the CM Health Insurance Scheme was also benefitting the people of the State in a big way.

Under the Central Scheme, the poor families will get insurance cover for treatments upto Rs 5 lakh so that they do not get devoid of quality healthcare during illness. Khare said that under the scheme Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences will also be strengthened, which in turn be beneficial for the masses.
