LUDHIANA: To provide partial relief to the commuters facing traffic jams, one side of the on Gill Chowk Flyover may be opened for the traffic by Monday. Mayor Balkar Sandhu made a visit to the flyover on Thursday to review the ongoing repair work.
Almost a month has passed since the wall on one side of the flyover had collapsed and it was closed for traffic. Since then, people are facing difficulties driving on this route daily.

Sandhu checked the ongoing work on Thursday and asked the contractors to speed up the work and try to complete it soon. The flyover was catering to maximum load of traffic after the Jagraon Bridge was closed for vehicular movement. The wall had collapsed on May 13 and the civic officials had blamed rats for the incident.

Sandhu said trial of one side of the flyover will take place on Sunday after which it might be opened for vehicles Monday onwards. He claimed the entire flyover will be repaired within this month only.

Meanwhile, an inquiry was marked to find out the exact reasons behind the wall collapse and officials were asked to submit their report within 15 days.
