BHUBANESWAR:The State Government has developed a mobile App with the help of National Informatics Centre (NIC) for online monitoring and inspection of schools as well as performance tracking of teachers and students at primary level.“The school monitoring App is almost ready for launching across the State from June 18,” said State Projet Director, Orissa Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) Bhupendra Singh Poonia in a letter to all Collectors.
Using the App, all field officials of School and Mass Education Department like the District Education Officers, District Project Coordinators, Additional District Education Officers, Block Education Officers among other officials concerned will regularly monitor the elementary schools, he said.Informing about the App, NIC senior Technical Director Malay Kumar Das said, “This is a survey App, where questionnaire will be put for teachers and students and analysing the answers given, their performance will be tracked.” To some extent the App will also help in tracking infrastructure availability and requirement of schools, he added.
On a pilot basis, the App will be launched in a few schools. “It has been decided to launch the application on a pilot basis in a limited number of schools and over a period of time it will be launched across State,” said an official.All officials concerned have been trained on use of the App ahead of launch next week, immediately after summer vacation, officials said. “State will issue biometric tablets to all officers concerned for using the application. However, initially officers have been advised to use their smart-phones to download the App from a link to be shared with them officially,” they added.
While a State-level monitoring cell has been set up by OPEPA as part of the project, the district administrations have been asked to set up monitoring cells at their level, headed by pedagogy coordinators.
